An Epic Head Phone Adventure for JAI # 397

It's Friday again at last and what a busy week it has been!! So we are looking forward to the weekend and spending some time in between the garden and the craft room. The Summer veggies have finished and despite it being February, the weather seems a lot more like Autumn already with some crisp mornings....so what veggies should we be planting next?? That is one of the big decisions for the weekend so it should be fun :-)

This week at Just Add Ink we have one of Tina's popular letter challenges - to "Just Add....H". That can be anything starting with the letter "H" as the main focus of your project. Our lovely design team have had such fun with this one and you will be blown away with the many ways they've added "H" this week so I hope you can pop on over and be inspired to join us!

This is the second of two cards I made for this week :-) The Head phones were Heat embossed in Clear and then it was time to play with Brusho looking for a vibrant kind of retro rainbow fit for a teen and music enthusiast...it didn't quite turn out as Austin Powers as I first had in mind but that is probably just as well LOL :-)

Placing the layers to either side of the base card and adding some black sequin "chains" keeps it masculine whilst adding a touch of bling.

And here is the other"H" themed card for this week - a little more feminine and features a shaker of "hugs".  The stamped background uses images from the Lovely Inside and Outside bundle and the sequins with the clear background add a fun and rather unexpected element.

Card stock: Whisper White (thick and standard), Real Red, Bermuda Bay, Gold Foil, Window Sheet
Inks: Versamark, Momento Tuxedo Black, Dapper Denim, Pool Party, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink, Melon Mambo
Stamps: Epic Celebrations, Lovely Inside and Out
Accessories: Big Shot, Brusho, White EP, Clear EP, Black Sequin Trim, Metallic Sequins Assortment, Lovely Words Thinlits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Irridescent Sequins and Brights Sequins Assortments.
Non SU: Water color paper (Tim Holtz)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see what all the team have to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what "H" element you will choose to headline your project this week :-)

Happy stamping until next time,

Mermaid Magic

Today I have a rather special card today for a rather special turning 3 year old Niece :-) Miss 3 is currently a big fan of Moana the movie. Not being so familiar with the movie myself,  I initially thought that Moana might be a mermaid....of course after later watching the Movie trailer, I realised my mistake but the card was already coming together so we decided to go on with the theme.

It's been a long time since I've made a Card in a Box and I wanted one that was able to fit inside our standard C6 envelopes. So I used this great tutorial I found on Pinterest by Tanya Bell for the base card. As Tanya has all the measurements detailed in her video, I'll just concentrate on sharing about the decorations :-)

Whilst I do have the Magical Day stamp set, the images in the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP are not only a little bigger, but have gorgeous glitter all over them. So, an afternoon of fussy cutting later...

And the scene is set for this magical world! A sparkly watery background housing Mermaids, little Sea Horses, a Dragon and hero Knight defending the mermaids' underwater Castle. All the pieces on the inside of the box are added on strips of Window Sheet so they appear to be floating.
Now all it needs is it's own little fairy story to go with it :-)

Card stock: Pool Party, Melon Mambo, Window Sheet
Designer Series Paper: Myths & Magic Specialty
Inks: Versamark
Stamps: Magical Day
Accessories: Big Shot,  Stitched Shapes Framelits, White EP

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Happy stamping until next time,

Furry Friend Sympathy for JAI#396

Happy Friday folks and welcome :-) We've had a beautiful week of pretty perfect Summer days. The veggie patch has been very productive but is showing signs it is nearly finished for the season. It will be fun deciding what to plant for an autumnal crop soon.

Also full of fun is the new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week, Kim has drawn a fabulously clean and versatile sketch for us all to use. You can use it as is or Flip it, and spin it as long as the sketch can be recognised in your project. Our lovely design team have created such a beautiful variety of cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and join us.

We heard the other day the very sad news that the time came for a friend to say goodbye to their beloved little Westie (think the My Dog  tv ad) and so a card was needed.
The dog image is the closest I have to a Westie and is from Avery Elle. To keep the colouring light, as she is of course a white dog, I used Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen  - and an ink pad for the tennis ball.
Because the dog is looking to the right, I decided to flip the sketch and use the large sentiment as a  banner for her to sit on which led to the rounding of all the corners and including her favourite tennis ball in memory of her favourite game and it adds a needed extra piece of colour.

A little Fine Tip Glue Pen was added to her eyes and nose for some shine and then it was time to build the layers. There are a couple of different paw print sizes in the stamp set, and inspired by Nichol Spohr,  I used these to create the background and it also goes with the well known "dogs leave paw prints on our hearts" saying on the inside.

Card stock: Basic Grey, Berry Burst, Basic Black, Whisper White
Inks: Versamark, Black Archival, Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst
Stamps: Sorry For Everything
Accessories: Big Shot, White EP, Metallic Sequin Assortment, PL Corner Rounder (retired), Blender Pens, Fine Tip Glue Pen
Non SU: Furry Friends Stamp and Die bundle (Avery Elle)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink to see all the wonderful inspiration from all the team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun sketch this week.

Happy stamping until next time,

Celebrate Amazing You for JAI #395

Another week has gone by and it's a happy Friday again :-) It's been very hot again in Melbourne and that has presented a few health challenges in our household but a cool change is on the way they tell us and it will be very welcome when it arrives over the weekend :-)

It's time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week Kelly has given us this absolutely gorgeous Inspiration Photo to use in our projects this week. You can take whatever jumps out at you from the photo to work with - the pretty blossoms, trees, road, patterns or the colours. Our lovely design team have created a fabulous array of projects to inspire you so I hope you can pop on over and join us :-)

I really adore the colours in the photo - pinks are indeed my favourite colours!! But I wanted to also include a sense of the road and the masses of blossoms while trying to keep a little white space. It was also time to break out and try using some Stampin Blends...so many ideas :-)

So the background DSP has an array of dots for the blossoms, the white panel and it's gold edging is to represent the road. The flower was randomly stamped over the background and another coloured, fussy cut and layered to represent the blossoms.

A little Razzleberry card stock is added under the gold amazing, some Wink of Stella to the pretty bloom and a sprinkling of Glitter Enamel Dots and this card is finally ready to pop in the mail.

And yes, the YOU is die cut from the same designer series paper as the background :-)

Card Stock: Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Gold Foil
Designer Series Paper: Painted With Love Specialty Paper
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black, Rich Razzleberry
Stamps: Amazing You
Accessories: Big Shot, Celebrate You Thinlits, Stampin Blends- Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Glitter Enamel Dots, Wink of Stella

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and be inspired by all the wonderful projects the team have created to inspire you and I look forward to seeing what you will create inspired by this gorgeous photo.

Happy stamping until next time,

Fun Bird Banter for JAI #394

Happy Friday and welcome :-) It does seem rather incredible that it is February already doesn't it! The last week especially, seems to have flown by - so glad to welcome a cool change after days of heat and humidity. The schools have almost all gone back for the year, the summer sales have ended and Sally the Lab got to celebrate her 14th birthday too :-)

We have a beautiful challenge for you at Just Add Ink this week. Nikki has suggested that we "Just Add....Romance" to our projects. With Valentines Day just around the corner this is the perfect challenge to inspire you to create for your loved ones! As always our lovely and talented team have been busy creating to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and hopefully join  with us.

I think it was Australia Day that inspired this card :-) I'm putting together a pack of cards to send as a gift to friends and this card will hopefully have some meaning for them as they are visited almost daily by the gorgeous Rainbow Lorikeets that I've coloured the birds from Bird Banter to look like.

These rather noisy birds are found from Queensland to Perth in rain forests, bush and wooded areas. Their distinctive red beaks and blue heads and bellies mean they really do fit their name well. There is no plumage differences between the sexes - so they all look bright and beautiful :-)

The stamp has only one of these birds, so to get the bird on the right I used the Reflection or Mirror stamping technique. I stamped the image using Momento Ink onto Window Sheet and then turned the sheet over and carefully pressed it onto Whisper White card stock to transfer the ink. Then I coloured both images and the sky background with Copics before fussy cutting them.

To add a little more "romance" I added some Fine Tip glue to both bird eyes as well as the little hearts.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set and I couldn't resist adding a little rainbow DSP to go with these cute little fellows :-)

Card stock: Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide, Basic Black, Whisper White, Real Red
DSP: TuttiFruiti Stack
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark
Stamp: Bird Banter
Accessories: Heart to Heart punch (retired and for sale :-)) Red and Silver Twine, Fine Tip Glue Pen, Window Sheet, White EP

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the inspiration from our design team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with this fun, romantic theme :-)

Happy stamping until next time,
Jan
