Super Cake Crazy for JAI #383

Happy Friday everyone and welcome!! The garden is really beginning to show off it's Spring colours and it reminds me of why this is my favourite time of year. The bottle brushes, roses and other shrubs are all in full bloom and the veggie garden has us well supplied for Spring salads already - yum :-)

Also very yummy is this week's new challenge at Just Add Ink where Chloe has suggested that we Just Add...Cake this week :-) The design team have created such a wonderful array of cakes to inspire you so I hope that you might be able to pop on over and take a look and join us.

I don't have any traditional cake images in my collection and so chose to go with a retired set that has a mixture of shapes and words to build a cake. It's also come at the perfect time to celebrate my "super" brother's birthday too. I always try and make something a bit interactive for his birthday and so this year it was time for a magic slider card. When you pull up the tab who should appear...???

Yes, Superman of course :-)

He makes an appearance on the inside as well and he is coloured with Copics.

The Slider action is reasonably simple to create for something that has a wow effect. There is a similar tab of card stock around the bottom of the piece of acetate only it is cut longer than the slit in the card front to stop it coming right out when pulled. I also used the Thick Whisper White for added strength too.

To make sure there was plenty of room under the top layer of card for the slide action, to take place I used the Foam Strips and also placed some close to the sides of where the acetate runs too to act as guard rails to keep it running straight. Rubbing the sides of the foam strips with an Embossing Buddy will stop it sticking to the acetate and ensure it slides freely.

Card stock: Pacific Point, Basic Black, Whisper White (thick and standard), Window Sheet
Ink: Pacific Point, Momento Tuxedo Black, Black Stazon (on the acetate), Versamark
Stamps: Cake Crazy (retired), Everyday Hero (retired), Labeller Alphabet
Accessories: Silver EP, Metallic Sequins Assortment, Foam Adhesive Strips

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink  and see all the fabulous designs from our lovely design team and I look forward to seeing what cakes you'll create to share with us this week.

Happy stamping until next time,

Joy To The World for JAI #382

Happy Friday everyone and welcome :-) It's been a week where Melbourne's four seasons in one day reputation has been on show once again. We've had everything from thunder storms and rain to a Spring heatwave - and plenty of drama in between.

But at last it's Friday and we have a new challenge at  Just Add Ink. This week we have a very elegant and pretty colour combination for you from Patrice. You are welcome to add more neutrals or some metallics to complete your projects too and our lovely design team had a lot of fun with this and we hope that you will too :-)

I actually found this to be more of a challenge than I expected and tried several different themes before this one.  Fresh Fig is the only In Colour that I hadn't used until now and I'm sure that was part of it but that is where challenges are good to take you outside of your comfort zone a little  :-)

Whilst the sentiment stamp is all in line, it is easy to seperate the words with masking.

Card stock: Whisper White (thick and standard), Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Fresh Fig, Vellum, Silver Glimmer
Ink: Fresh Fig
Stamps: Home For Christmas
Accessories: Big Shot, Hometown Greetings Thinlits, Starlight thinlits, Silver Faceted Gems, Metallic Sequins Assortment

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the amazing cards from the design team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with these gorgeous colours too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Eclectic Hugs

Hello, just popping in on this beautiful Sunday morning to share another card :-) It was made using last week's Just Add Ink sketch and you can see my original post with more on that here.

This was the first card I made with last week's sketch and it went in the mail pretty quickly. When you can't give a hug in person, sending a card version has to be the next best thing we can do. The design is purposefully CAS and I even resisted the urge to add the odd sequin this time, wanting the simple flower and "hugs" to be centre stage.

Doesn't the glitzy gold gem look as though it was made for this flower centre :-)

Card stock: Whisper White (Thick and standard), Night of Navy, Gold Foil
Ink: Tempting Turquoise (stamped off once), Lemon lime Twist, Emerald Envy
Stamps: Oh So Eclectic
Accessories: Big Shot, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Lovely Word thinlits, Falling Petals EF (retired), Eclectic Layers Framelits, Night of Navy Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon, Gold Faceted Gems.

Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget to hug the ones you love!

Here Comes Santa Paws for JAI #381

Happy Friday and welcome! It's been a week of changing weather, some warmish days amongst thunderstorms and rain and the Spring allergies seem to be in full force. Melbourne is certainly trying to keep it's famous Four Seasons in One Day reputation. But the Summer veggie seedlings are in and we are looking forward to harvest already :-)

It's time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week we have a fun Choose Two option for you to use in your projects suggested by me so I hope you can enjoy it :-) You can choose two of either Embossing Paste, Colouring or Sequins and our lovely design team have created such wonderful projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and hopefully join us :-)

For my card, I started by water colouring the middle of the background and when it was dry I added some embossing paste with Dazzling Diamonds glitter mixed through to the top and bottom using one of the Seasonal Patterns masks.  Then Santa Paws was coloured with Copics and fussy cut - and of course "she" had to be black as we tend to dress Sally the Lab in a Santa's helpers Elf suit every year to deliver a hamper to our favourite vets - not that she loves dress ups but she puts up with it LOL!

The sleigh is from Santa's Sleigh and is die cut from both Diamond and Red Glimmer paper. The presents are stamped on DSP and easily fussy cut. It is all so more sparkly in real life :-)

As for Santa's Elf, she doesn't seem so enthused this year - in fact she seems to be giving me "the  look" maybe she knows we are a tad early :-)

Card stock: Real Red, Basic black, Red Glimmer, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer
Designer Series Paper:- Retired pieces used for presents.
Inks: Tempting Turquoise, Versamark, Momento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: Santa Paws, Santa's Sleigh
Accessories:Big Shot, Santa's Sleigh thinlits, Seasonal Patterns Masks, Embossing Paste, White Embossing Powder, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Basic Rhinetones
Non SU: Watercolor Paper (TH), Copics for colouring Santa- C3, C5, C7, R27,R37

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you have a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink to see all the fabulous inspiration from the design team and I look forward to seeing what you will create with these fun options this week too!

Happy stamping until next time,

Eclectic Flowers and Words for JAI #380

Hello, it's Friday again and the end of another week. We've had a rather busy one but it has been lovely to see the start of Daylight Savings as it is a sign of warmer weather to come.
We have had a few lovely days and that just makes us yearn for more :-)

We have a lovely CAS sketch this week at Just Add Ink designed by Narelle. Our design team have all created a fabulous array of projects to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look and join us.

I really enjoyed using this sketch and this is the second of two cards that I made with it this week.
In keeping with the CAS sketch design, I kept the rest of the card elements quite CAS too. Turning again to my favourite stamp set in this year's catalogue, Oh So Eclectic, I added a little texture with ribbon, the embossing folder and the frame over the flower and a mix of bright and lighter colours.

Card stock: Whisper White (thick and standard), Berry Burst, Gold Foil
Inks: Lemon Lime Twist, Sweet Sugarplum, Emerald Envy
Stamps: Oh So Eclectic
Accessories: Big Shot, Lovely Words Thinlits, Eclectic Layers Thinlits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Pretty Petals EF(retired), Gold Faceted Gems, Berry Burst Finely Woven Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and see all the lovely inspiration from the rest of out team and I look forward to seeing what you will make with this really versatile sketch too.

Happy stamping until next time,

Jan
